Kru Kwan received a Master’s degree with distinction in Romantic and Victorian Literary Studies from Durham University, UK, and a First-Class Honours BA in English and history from the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Her MA dissertation focuses on the fictionalisation of Victorian objects and its role in neo-Victorian texts. Prior to doing her master’s degree, she was a freelance translator for an entertainment technology and localisation company. She has collaborated with an independent publishing house in Bangkok and published translations of Chantal Mouffe’s ‘Agonistic Politics and Artistic Practices,’ David Hodge and Hamed Yousefi’s ‘Provincialism Perfected: Global Contemporary Art and Uneven Development,’ and a memoir essay by Diana Taylor entitled ‘Memory, Trauma and Performance.’ Her research interests include Victorian sensation fiction, nineteenth-century material culture, ‘thing’ theory, spectrality and hauntology.

Teaching has always been Kru Kwan’s passion; she taught and tutored students of all levels during her studies. With a specialisation in literature, she would like to show Thai English learners that, rather than just being a compulsory course in school, English is a bridge between people of different cultures, a door to opportunities and a portal through time that would allow them to appreciate the beauty of the language in all its richness.
